The City of Austin has scheduled a $90 million mobility bond election this November. The proposed projects include both short-term and long-term investments that address City mobility issues. Based on current economic conditions, these bonds can be funded within the City’s current bond capacity and tax rate so no tax increase is required if Proposition 1 is approved by voters.

The City’s mobility priorities include investments in streets, sidewalks, bike paths, trails and transit infrastructure in all parts of Austin.

This proposition would provide funding for preliminary engineering, design, construction and reconstruction of projects to build or rebuild the travel surface, subgrade, and associated infrastructure including storm drains, sidewalks and bikeways where feasible in those streets and/or corridors selected for construction or reconstruction. Some of the City’s priority projects may include, but are not limited to:

  • Utility Relocation on Lavaca Street and Guadalupe Street
  • IH 35 Corridor Major Investment Study
  • East Riverside Drive Corridor Sidewalk and Bicycle Improvements
  • 3rd Street Reconstruction
  • Manchaca Road Sidewalk and Bicycle Improvements
  • FM 969 (East Martin Luther King Boulevard) Corridor Improvements
  • Kramer Lane Multi-Use Trail
  • Boardwalk Trail at Lady Bird Lake
  • Waller Creek Street and Trail Improvements and Sabine Street and 6th Street Pedestrian Promenade
  • Airport Boulevard Corridor Improvements
  • MoPac/Loop 1 Corridor Connections
  • Guadalupe Street Bicycle Facilities
  • 4th Street and IH 35 Crossing Improvements
  • Johnston Terrace Neighborhood Safe Routes to School
  • US 183 Traffic Improvements
  • 7th Street and 8th Street Conversion to Two-Way Traffic
  • Bicycle Crossing at Jollyville and US 183
  • Manor Road Cross-Section Improvements
  • Pleasant Valley Road – 5th Street to 7th Street Improvements
  • RM 620 at RM 2222 Intersection Improvements
  • South Congress Avenue Widening near William Cannon Drive
  • Brodie Lane Sidewalks
  • Dessau Road/Cameron Road Bicycle Lanes
  • West Rundberg Lane Extension – Burnet Road to Metric Boulevard
  • East Rundberg Lane Extension – Cameron Road to Ferguson Lane
  • Continuous Bicycle Lanes on Barton Springs Road
  • “Y” at Oak Hill Intersection Improvements
  • IH 35 and East 51st Street Intersection Improvements
